Windows 7 local network only

After I disabled large send offload on my networkcard killer e gigabit ethernet controller ndis 6. Since yesterday I have a slow connection again. I didn't install something new and LSO is still disabled. Any ideas how I can fix this? Thanks in advance,. Thank you for the info. I really helped was struggling with slow lan for 4 days nothing helped but these changes made wonders.. Can't believe this. Saved the day for me. Thanks a lot for sharing the solution.

I was transferring data over LAN between 2 laptops one of which is Windows 7 and another is Windows 8. I tried ll your suggestions to increase speed. I just wanted to chime in and express my gratitude for this solution. Ah finally i found a solution! Starts of at or so.

I tried these without much luck. Turned on autonegotiation and bingo. I think I might owe you something huge for this, but have nothing to offer. This brings about the end of a very long-term frustration. Many thanks for this post. You deserve an award or something. Thank you very much. It was one older computer on our network that was slowing down other resources. After disabling LSO on that station it has helped all around.

I did the opposite. I enabled Jumbo Packets, the largest size. That fixed the problem. However, my case is special. I am downloading over a university campus LAN. If you have that service running, check this article on how to remove it. Thank you, thank you and thank you. Any ideas how to fix slow speed transfer over VPN? I know to some degree the speed is reliant on the VPN provider. Waiting anywhere between 12hours and 18 hours is way to slow for a 20gig file.

I am getting speeds of kb or less. Very slow. Check this article. It has quite a few suggestions on how to fix slow VPN speed. For years I struggled with slow speeds thinking that it supposed to be like that. Thank's heaps. It might help you steer into right direction. For example, the answer has the following information about "Jumbo Frame" :.

If users enable both of them, the driver automatically chooses Jumbo Packet. Now both directions work. What a stupid feature. Thanks so much! The large send offload was my problem too transferring files between Windows 8 computers, only in one direction wireless to wired. Now I'm maxing out my wifi again.

My file transfer speed over an ethernet cable was awfully slow. About 25kbps. I did 'netsh' change and it boosted up to 8mbps. Then I advanced and did the 'ipv4 and ipv6' changes on both of my laptops. But as soon as I opened another folder in the file explorer of my sending laptop, the speed dropped to around 46mbps, and the laptop started lagging and hanging. When I let things get stable, everything was back to normal.

After everything, I reverted the settings everywhere, to avoid falling prey to anything fishy, should a problem decide to approach me in the future. Thanks for this article, though, I wanted the transfer speed to be above mb but it became better after following the steps provided in this article. Well anyhow thank you VERY much! This only started two weeks ago after having good speeds for years. Thank you so much. I would not have found this without help.

I searched for increasing speed day by day, but i lost This is my email , someone can help me by sending me a reply to this e-mail, thanks! Amazing and thank you! And curses to the buffoons who invented it, who improperly implemented it, and who decided to enable it by default. It doesn't work for me I wish to transfer GB files from Windows 7 to Windows I have tried the above-mentioned solutions.. Is there anyone have some good ideas? Thank you so much for this!

I can't believe your first fix worked for me. My connection was literally taking 30 minutes per photo. Still relevant info - You're a superstar! To increase transfer speed. Thank you for the suggestion. We have just upgraded to win 10s and were experiencing slow transfer speeds from our workstation to poor Synology. I was blaming Synology, but of course - in our case the solution was to disable the Windows Defender.

The issue was NOT related to anything networking. Dear Sir, My self a computer hardware engineer. I have same query regarding network issues at my client's office. My client wholesale dealer of medicine. For day to day business operations he is running a billing software. This software Visual Studio Foxpro is installed in more than 3 to 4 computer including server computer.

The software runs with efficient speed in server computer but the problem arises when it is operated in other computer. It lacks sufficient network and speed. Therefore, kindly suggest same remedial measures regarding above stated query. Thanking You. This worked for me media server settings was causing my video to lag and even drop occasionally. After disabling the LSO, not only did my video lag stop, but the audio quality greatly improved.

Plex has been driving me mad keep buffering. It was fine, then it started doing it, then it decided sometimes to do it, and then not to other times. Even an image slideshow would sometimes buffer when it was in a bad mood. Although disabling the LSO appears to have fixed the basic issue, I have since discovered that it is possible a large or corrupted cache for the Plex app can also lead to issues.

I've watched several movies with no issues since applying the LSO fix up until then it was a big problem. All of a sudden last night - in the last 5 minutes of a film - buffering started again. It was also immediately apparent when I tried it on another movie to try and figure out what was happening. It was slightly different to before.

Previously, when it buffered it never restarted. This time, it was. First of all thanks for your "crystal clear guidance". But, this rate is very slow for a modern cable. Thanking you once again. I eventually gave up and hardwired my connection, Shridhar. Initially, I thought this had resolved matters, but they started again. I noticed that it depended on the movie I was playing - a 4k one required more bandwidth, especially during action scenes.

Kill Bill: Vol 1 with the swordfight scene being a prime example. Wi-Fi just couldn't handle it. I gave up with Wi-Fi and went for an ethernet converter for my Firestick.

That fixed it completely. I've since gone with a NAS and run my Plex server from there. Then click "Network and Internet" and launch the Network and Sharing center. On this screen click "Change advanced sharing settings" then make sure these items are turned on:. Password Protected Sharing must be turned off. If it is not, the computers running XP and Vista will be asked to enter a name and password before they can connect.

Nowadays, many homes and offices have several computers, but usually only one printer. Windows 7 makes it incredibly easy for every computer on the network to share that one printer. To do this, simply plug a printer into any computer on your homegroup. Windows 7 automatically tells all of the other computers in that homegroup that a printer is available.

To find it, simply click the start menu and select "Devices and Printers". You may have to install the driver on each computer manually before you can use it. Once the network has been set up correctly, it should work fine without any further action, but if it doesn't, there are a few things you can try before pulling your hair out.

The first, of course, is to ask Windows itself to try and diagnose the problem. To do this, right-click on the network icon in the taskbar and select "Troubleshoot Problems". A wizard will launch to guide you through the process. If that doesn't work, go back and make sure that every computer has the same workgroup name. In this article, we'll go over the most common complaints, and explain why they exist and how to change them if you want to. If you used Windows Vista, you're probably well aware of those annoying permission screens.

They're the ones that pop up every time you try to install some kind of software or make a major change to Windows, and ask you if you really want to do that. To tell the truth, there isn't really a good solution to them. If you turn them off, you leave your computer open to all sorts of malicious software, such as spyware and worms and viruses. If you don't want to turn them off altogether, you can still set them to a different level so they don't pop up as frequently.

If you drag the little rectangle in the middle upward, you'll have the most secure system, but you'll see a permission screen any time a change is made to Windows, whether you initiated it or not. If you drag the rectangle downward, you won't see the permission screens, but you also won't be notified when any change is made to windows. That means a virus can install itself on your computer and you'd never realize it.

Copying music to most MP3 players is incredibly easy. Windows recognizes them as just another disk drive. You can easily navigate to the device and drag your music into it. You can only move music and movies to your iPod through iTunes, which is Apple's proprietary software. But don't worry, it is Windows compatible and is available for free from the iTunes website.

It's like an old building that gets torn down in your neighborhood-after 6 or 8 months, you almost forget it was ever there in the first place.

If you have been missing these menus, though, you can view them easily and temporarily by pushing the Alt key. There's no doubt that Windows 7 has an attractive interface and some of the effects are pretty cool. Those effects come with a price, however-they use up a bit of your computer's processor and memory.

This hit to performance is negligible on high end machines, but older or low-end computers may really feel it. If you don't think Windows 7 is running as fast as it could be, you might try turning these effects off.

From here you can choose to disable individual effects, or disable all of them by selecting "Adjust for best performance. In my case, we need it to run older versions of specialized software to prepare historical calculations. Clearly, we do not want to expose our network and our systems to undue risk that Windows 7 presents.

Here are your options:. If there is a need to keep an older operating system, do the best you can to isolate it from the rest of your production network. Then plan on retiring these systems as soon as you can. Here are the latest Insider stories. More Insider Sign Out. Sign In Register.

This problem drives me mad. For days I try to find a solution and nothing works. I solved it by doing: 1 Disable the current network connection 2 Re-enable that connection.

Still not working internet access. At this point the system hangs. When I restarted, the connection said Internet Access and I could access the internet. Alfonso Mateos: And do you have to do that every time you want to use the computer to go online, or was this a one-off solution that solved it? Not getting my hopes up though.. This local access only thing is giving me a headache.

Not a single mention of it on MS website yet its huge problem judging by forums. I also have this problem. I am using windows 7 RC and the problem started days after install.

I have access to LAN computers but no internet until i disable and then enable network adapter first time after system starts. So far the only quick repair is, disable the adapter and enable it again every time you start windows.

I agree, the problem is huge. In my case it started after installing Photoshop. I have two more computers with the same version of W-7 and they work fine: on logon they connect automatically to Internet and local network. I even reinstalled W-7 in the faulty machine and the problem persist. I find that I have the same issue. In the office, I am running Windows 7 64bit. I just opened the command line and pinged a outgoing destination such as google. XP Pro works fine, good old OS. Will post my solution if I get there, going to run Windows update next as hopefully they have sorted the issue.

I experienced same problem in Windows 7. I disabled this Service, rebooted Windows 7 and the problem seems to have solved. Troubleshooting tells me the physical connection is broken.

Clearly there is no cable problem. Wanna guess my thoughts about Windows 7? I can also click the troubleshooter which evidently resets the network adapter which is an onboard Intel LF-2 Gigabit chip connected to a broadband modem via ethernet cable. My machine came with Vista 64bit and everything was working all right then.

Otherwise W7 is ok and faster than Vista. I am having the same problem, the net used to be fine then it starts to disconnect. I am on a basic home network on a router. I tried using a wireless card to see if the problem was the network card but no, still no net access. I thought I had spyware but googling the problem told me lots of other people have the same problem? What gives? I tried assigning static IPs but still no go.

I installed windows 7 rc and I have problems with the Internet, It show "no internet access", mention that in "safe mode" it work. What is the problem?

RAM66, I have no idea what the problem is, sorry. We all have this problem, and nobody knows a definite solution. Also increased transfer speed 2x estimated. Also have a Wireless Vista 32 bit sitting right next to 64 bit, and ipv6 is ticked, and no problem.

Hopefully it will continue working because this issue is beyond annoying! It does not have the bonjour service, I even installed the newest driver fot the nic and nothing seems to work. As for waiting for an update: try Ubuntu. Instant network and internet connections, and out of the box everything. In my case the wireless adapter works fine but when I plug in using a cable I get the same thing that is occuring above, i am connected — but no internet access.

I install one application and it crashes. I reinstall it and install another application and it kicks me off the internet. Thank you SO much! We just bought a new laptop and when it went online I would be booted off the internet on my PC.

You so totally Rock! Seems a silly question, but has everyone with the problem tried to access the internet? I had this same issue and after some digging through our firewall logs I was able to discover the problem. It seems that Windows 7 sends an http request to bayf Now on our firewall we have hotmail.

When i disabled the firewall rule blocking hotmail. I would check to make sure hotmail. Hope this works for someone.
