Upon successful completion of this program, you will be prepared for the fire academy, as well as for EMT jobs with ambulance service companies, first responder agencies, fire departments, and hospitals. Our qualified instructors will introduce you to fire service, wellness and fitness, and hazardous materials.

You will also be trained to recognize and handle a range of medical situations — from minor to life-threatening, including learning how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation CPR , automatic external defibrillation, and the procedures for administering oxygen and medication. We will also teach you how to stabilize and transport trauma victims and those suffering a major medical event like a heart attack or stroke.

Students at any Maricopa Community College may need to complete courses at more than one of our colleges. The EMT and EMS programs are considered a clock hour program, which is a training program that provides skills for quick entry into the workforce. The clock hour programs have specific year-round start dates, and you typically attend classes four days a week, Monday-Thursday.
